The arches

This is another one that won’t fall into any category too easily, not landscape or architecture soooo… here we go. This is yet another one I pulled from the fire. Should I throw it back? This is yet again from Inistioge at around 6.30am on a dull morning. I’ve applied a radial gradiant filter called midnight for a subtle contrast.

This is a nice shot nothing wrong with it. I would not put it into the fire at all i would be very happy with it. The arches and wall lead you right into the picture

    I like this so much.
It has such a Shakespeare kinda Anne Hathaway thing about it.
Would you wanna crop it just a bit above the cottage though?

    Thanks Martin, DenverDoll.

I had already cropped heavily from the top to get rid of the bland sky but your suggestion makes sense. I wouldn’t go too low to the cottage as it’ll make a square picture and I’m not fond of that shape in a photo but just enough to close out completely the sky.

My concern is that the lead in from the arches goes too far across the photo and leads to nothing in particular. I may go back and broaden the arches to create more of a “landscape” shape image. I’m still not 100% happy with this one.

I like it mate. As far as composition goes you have your bases covered.
Leading lines and a good focal point.
The top right is disctracting but you could always tone it down a little and not crop any further.

I’d personally like to see it black and white.

You are being a little bit over critical of your work though. It’s a good shot now run with it.
