I only have a bridge SLR on loan. I really need some help and advice on photography before I invest in a camera so your advice would be welcome
    Thanks

You’ve come to the right place then :) , I like the diagonals in your shot, you seem to have an eye for composition so stick with it. As for cameras, you can’t go wrong with Canon or nikon, personally i use Canon. The Canon 400D is a nice camera or if you can find a second hand 350D or 20D it should work out a bit cheaper and youd still have a great camera, check the equipment for sale section here. Best of luck with it anyway.

Hiya Cora – congratulations on your first post! Hopefully you’ll have many more…
Nice bright colours in your image, although maybe the greens are a tiny bit bright?? But thats something you can tweak on the computer of course!
I use a Nikon D70s, and as John said you can’t go wrong with either Canon or Nikon. I’m pretty happy with my camera, although I do occasionally get gadget lust!!

Pretty shot. I have a feeling the auto focus has slightly ruined your good idea here. The depth of field is limited and the centre of your frame is not necessarily the best place to have your lens focus. Others will explain better than I can.
