This is a pic of my first grandchild. Im biased of course so I think its lovely. Maybe somebody could be a little more constructive than that.

What a fantastic expression and very well captured. It’s no small wonder
that you’ll treasure this one. It might be improved somewhat by a boost
in contrast and sharpening, and a little lightening of the whites of the eyes
which are somewhat grey in appearance. All in all though a marvellous
    portrait. Nice work.

Aww, what a gorgeous shot Cora :) Love the catchlights, expression. I think the shot itself looks a tad “flat”, so i’d suggest bringing in the white point a little, boosting the contrast a tad and doing a selective sharpen on the eyes, lips, top of nose hair etc :). I’m not sure about the negative space to the top of the image, maybe a crop?

That a beautiful shot of a gorgfeous child….the conversion is perfect, although I do agree that it needs a tad more contrast,

I was at a photoshop tutorial recently where the instructor said that a good colour photo with perfect contrast may need some more when converted to black and white……..

Definitely doesn’t take away from the picture though….it’s just likkle thing…

That’s a gorgeous shot Cora….you certainly caught a beautiful expression. The eyes look fantastic.

Is that a really shallow DOF or did you apply blur?

Made me smile the minute I saw it. Nice shot. Needs a wee sharpen mebbe, but it’s a lovely capture.

Thanks for all your comments and advice. The shot was taken with an aperture of f/3.0 but I did soften it a little in Picasa which is what Im using at the moment. Howevet the consensus is it needs a little sharpening so Ill play around with that and the contrast.

Thaks again I appreciate the help.
