I need help here guys and gals (my wife has said it for years!). I came across these two birds today that I hadn’t seen before. The first I’m almost sure is a stone chat. The second I ain’t never seen before. It isn’t the best photo in the world as it was into the sun at around 10.30am so it was pretty bright. Any ideas??

No idea. I’ve just thought, wouldn’t be a wheatear, would it? It was bigger than a finch but slightly smaller than a blackbird.Alan.
Correct on both counts.
Great exposure of the Stonechat. Getting eye detail in that black “hood” is hard. Only problem I have … the bird is on the wrong side of the frame, leaving the shot.
I hadn’t thought of the position of the Stone Chat. I purposely cropped to include a better background but you’re right, it looks silly. I’ll go again and repost.

I think, it’s a bit too much in the upper right corner… Anyway, excellent sharpness and lovely catchlight in the eyes. Great shot.
Take some space from the bottom and stick some on top. If you don’t have space on top, you can resize the canvas and clone it in.
