Newbie from Co. Derry

Hi all! I’ve been peeking at this forum for a while to see if I would fit in as a raw recruit to digital and I’m very impressed with the friendly atmosphere and the inspirational work and expertise that sits alongside efforts from such as myself. I’m from Co. Derry (but I don’t let it bother me) and after a year or so using a compact digital I recently bought a Fuji Finepix S9600; I’m still trying to come to terms with all its buttons and dials so in using it I’ll be glad of any crumbs of wisdom that might fall from a master’s table.

I started on the s5500…..and its all downhill from now on :DHi Tom, Welcome to PI. A word of warning watch out for Mr McInroy and that Pete fella up there they will have out making their tea for them at all those photo shoots :lol: :wink: . Seriously though there is some talent up there the 2 already mentioned and AJ with luck you will get to meet them sometime and then you will find out what the dials are for. Enjoy yourself here they are a nice bunch.
SodaWelcome Clondara from the pointy end of the south east. Hope you have some fun here. These more experienced guys and gals will put you right here in a gentle way. Just beware, this is an addictive site. I don’t even watch TV anymore. Now, get posting and catch the waves.

Hi Tom..and welcome to PI. If you’ve hung around a while you’ll already know what a great site this is, so no need to say :D
I’m another, like Noely and yourself who started with a Fujifilm prosumer series..or whatever the correct terminology is for fixed lens cameras. Be warned though…after a while you’re going to want to move up to DSLR ..start saving now…. :wink:
Look forward to seeing some shots from that 9600 :D

Welcome Tom and dont be scared from that Fuji s9600 I have one also and a DSLR and once you have the basics you will be on your merry way to becoming the addict ,like we all are on here.
