Some fallow deer shots taken today…

    C + C welcome…

Should I clone out the flies or leave them where they are!?

    Thanks,
    beef.

#2 is quite cool. #1 is well taken. There is something that looks wrong to me in the third one. Did you apply an artificial blur or some kind of selective sharpening or something that isolates the deer from the photo?

    Hi Aidan,

No, the third wasn’t processed any differently than the first 2… It was shot at f5 though, while the other 2 were shot at f6.3. Maybe that’s the difference in it? All three were sharpened using an USM.

    Thanks for looking,

    ~sigh~pout~

    These are lovely..
the first two are extra nice.
I wish I’d taken any of those..though that second one has a serene calmness about and makes it special.

Thanks denverdoll, and I agree – the third is the weakest. I think it’s the lack of eye contact?

    Cheers for looking.

Well for me beef, the profile works just fine, and the little fawn is just gorgeous. What is kind of buggin me is the halo around his antlers, but I feel bad pointing that out, because I know less about photoshop than everyone else here. It has delicious potential.

Don’t feel bad! That’s why the photos are here, so I can get some feedback about improving! I’ve posted a 100% crop of the deer – taken straight from the raw file with no adjustments at all. There is a definite halo around the antlers here from the sunlight – which I suspect could have been exaggerated during the sharpening process? Does anyone have a better theory!? Again, thanks for the feedback.

Maybe he’s one of Santa’s apprentice reindeer?
