AliParticipant
Hopefully i’ll get to post a bit more in here – time is ticking for the ‘A’ so i appreciate the comments all.
fstop89564ParticipantI like it ali………leaves one wondering……..nice job
as silly as it sounds there is only one thing that bothers
me and that is ……her right foot is not on the floor…….
I do not know why it bothers me but it does.
other than that she is on the mark
just me 02 cents worth
seanmcfotoMemberAs the foot is raised Tim, I would assume it is deliberate.
I like the composition and pose in this Ali. The choice of props and background compliment the outfit very well, creating a nice blend and balance in the image.
For the A panel, I assume you are placing this in the bottom row on the right? I’m just following the eyeline on this one.Nits? Just tiny ones. The hand in the skirt is not as graceful as the other and could probably be turned side on to us, with a little bend in the wrist, to create a balance between the 2 hands. Maybe with the elbow slid to our right slightly. The other nit is that I think it needs a little more fill light camera right (not much). Actually a final nit. A black chair might be better to reduce the light from the current chair.
Please don’t take these as criticism on the image, they’re merely suggestions that I think might help a great image become even better.
AliParticipanthey all, Thanks a mil for the comments ad critique, really appreciated.
Tim – Thanks again for commenting on one of my shots :) Delighted you like it. It’s a pity the foot is niggling at you.
Sean – Thank a million Sean for the critique, all taken on board. I’ve just started putting effort into organising shoots so it’s very possible this won’t even make my ‘A’ panel.
ExpresbroParticipantHey Ali. Love this shot. It reminds of something like a Vermeer painting. Lovely soft directional light and elegant poise.
I’d agree about the rested hand. I’d like to see the whole hand. Love the small touches like the inclusion of the vanity mask (or whatever they were called) on the table. This suggests to me that maybe she is at a ball of some sort and is just resting for a few moments, taking in what is happening around her.
Overall a very yummy image. Definitely one of my favourites of yours so far… 8)

Aww thx Robbie :) Must get you a 10×8 so :)
Oh yes please…. :D :D :D
GrahamBParticipantAli – this is outstanding.
I am seriously impressed with your work of late.I can’t comment for anyone else but I find naf all wrong with this shot.
If I were to niggle and i hope you want me to, I would have to say that the shadow cast by the pearls is a little
off and doesn’t seem to flow correctly. Everthing else seems to me to be spot on but my eye is drawn to that one shadow.Apart from that though – this is superb. Congrats
joe_elwayParticipantI’m out of depth in the People section so I’m treading on the seabed here in Fashion. As such, I can’t offer you any constructive C&C but … I like it.
rmMemberAnother gazing into the light shot but rather the opposite feel to it from ‘I shot my self’. There’s something somehow biblical about it.
I’m going to claim this one reminds me of a certain Picaso as well. It’s certaily quite a geometric shadow her nose casts (was I alowed to say that?!)

Bang on the money. It’s an image all about light all right.
AliParticipantRobbie – I’ll order it tonight :)
Graham – Thanks a mil, :) by all means niggle away, it’s great to get feedback. It’s amazing the things that people have pointed out that i hadn’t originally noticed. Appreciate it :)
Aidan – You shouldn’t feel out of depth in a section – at the end of the day the shot is taken for everyone to see. Any critique is valued. :)
rm – thanks a mil for the comments, i have to say – i love when people look a bit further into my shots and tell me what they think :) The triangle on the face caused by the nose is very typical of rembrandt lighting.
Just a wee bit of info here.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rembrandt_lightingExpresbroParticipantrmMemberA little too strong a Rembrandt (I swear I’m going to mention Tishen in my next C&C … or possable Constable given all the weather we’re having … ) for my liking in this case. Actually not so much the angle just the depth of the shadow, or too much of a highlight on the left cheek. The shadow around the eye reminds me of that kids book with all the monsters!
