Here is one of a recent league match. St ?nda’s are in the yellow and Balck and the youngster with the ball is Ruarai Scott
.
I like the expressions and the amount of effort these kids put in.
SodaDenverDollParticipantOh those expressions are priceless..wow..can really see the intense workout those kids are getting there.. their little faces are so rosy!
Love how you got them coming right at you. I have yet to get that action right in my face yet!
Terrific shot :D
Shar
SodafarlMemberSharon,
Get yourself up behind the goals of the opposing team or you will only get the back of their heads, these were on full zoom.
Thanks for the comments.
SodaExpresbroParticipantGreat action shot Carl..really like this one. Like Shar said…brilliant expressions and composition is spot on too imo. :D
DenverDollParticipantGreat advice Carl!
Umm..guess that was pretty obvious huh
But, I needed that pointed out, so we’ll definitely put that suggestion to use in the future! Thanks again,

Unfortunately got beat by a very strong team, there is always next year as most of the team have another year at u12.
Great game of football by both teams.
Thanks for the good wishesCarl
DenverDollParticipantThat IS disappointing.. I am sorry.
Funny how resiliant the little ones are though. They are probably already looking to next year, long before the parents
Have it in your favour that they are good for another U12. We’ll be good for another U16 for a good long while
Take care there,
SharSodafarlMemberSharon, you are right they will get over the disappointment quickly. Today is their first Sunday all year off training and they will be raing to go by Wednesday night as the training is now 2 times a week.
They will hopefully have learned some by next year as the majority have another year at U12
SodaciaranParticipantThe timing and expressions are good.
All in all though, it’s a little soft – probably because you’re on the far end of the zoom so the optics aren’t at their best coupled with perhaps a touch of camera shake and subject movement (tracking focus). Your verticals are a touch off too and it needs a hint of clockwise correction. But the most noticeable thing for me is the cyan tint – the WB is off quite a bit. I gave up shooting at football matches because my 70-300mm lens just really didn’t/doesn’t cut it. For crisp sports shots you really need to have a fast lens – which obviously get crazy expensive.
SodafarlMemberCiaran, Thanks for the comments. I agree with your comments especially the lense, I am using a Tamron 55-200mm 1:4-5.6 Macro, hand held, still to get a monopod. I have looked at bigger lenses but as you say the prices go crazy, I had looked at something along what you had mentioned but with a limited knowldge it is very hard to decide on the right one.
