Caught this evening at the Bull Wall.

Not my normal topic of photography, so all advise appreciated.

Very nice T. You did really well with the exposure of the white,
far better than I’ve done in any of my heron shots. I really like
this, though I can’t help wondering what it might have been
like if you’d framed it portrait format to include the obviously
    clear reflection of the bird…

    Thanks Rob,

Know what you mean, but you won’t believe this, even though I was in full view he came too close to do get bird and reflection in at the same time. 400mm fixed lens and as he was “under” me I couldn’t retreat.

Dontcha just hate that? Only having a 400mm nailed onto your camera
Someday, when I grow up, and have lots of money, I’m gonna get me one of those…

The 5.6 version only. Don’t need a morgage for that it’s under a grand.

    Nice photo!

The heron is sooo sharp. He also seem to be smiling over his own capture.

I took a photo of a heron yesterday and I just went and compared, and yours beats mine by a mile in detail and perspective.

    Very cool :D

All my lenses were under a grand too. In fact if I can get a grand for all my lenses, I’ll take it.

It’s a smashing photo. Is the heron holding the worm on a bit of wire? Maybe it’s a kebab skewer?

Super shot, you can see the glee in the Heron’s face.
    Well done.
