A place where trees are whispering behind your back and shouting at you, a place where you hear your own thoughts and your voice echoing around when you haven’t said a word. That’s the world I walked in alone, surrounded by myself. I’m fed up with perfect images, I decided I will try some blown, shaken and tilted imaging…
Perfect images? Don’t remember ever seeing one of those…
Actually I quite like the perspective on this one, and there are
times when this is what presents itself before our eyes – harsh sunlight
streaming through the trees, hard-edged shadows and a patchwork of
light that just makes you squint.Yup. I think I kinda like this…

Randomway, I think I can see what you were trying to do. A high-key dreamy sort of landscape? I think you have got the high key bit nailed, but IMO the image is much too contrasty. Did you shoot RAW? It might be worth reworking I think. Or maybe try a bit of contrast masking on this one.
I wasn’t really thinking when I processed it. The contrast is overdone by purpose, I’m not sure why, I just couldn’t stop :) Yeah, I shoot raw… this photo was actually so bad (harsh lights, blown highlights) that I thought, I’ll destroy whatever left of it, so I added loads of green and contrast… photography is just a game.. I enjoyed it and I enjoy looking at the result, I think, it’s good in a web size.
On the serious side, I know, that I’ll go back to that place a few times, I’ll revisit it in rain and on a misty morning… I don’t like to work from crappy material, when you see on site that it’s not your day, then nothing left, you start playing and experimenting. Thanks for the critique, I’ll give it a go now and see how the blur filters work :)
nice location, looks like a place with lots of protential. I’d perhaps try a Panoramic format crop, focusing more on the trees?

The problem is, I quit cropping some time ago and I will never go back… I go to these groups with fellow photographers, who try not to crop any more… I have to take strong drogs, but it’s still better than cropping.
The image is not massively doing it for me,
as they sometimes say around here,
but I was a bit intrigued by your aversion to cropping,
which raises a few issues-The first one is your choice of frame;
anytime you want to change aspect ratio,
must you change your camera,
or can you compose for imaginary frames elsewhere?I regularly use a selection of formats,
which I can shoot full frame,
but the slr with its fixed lens is the only one which doesn’t allow me to crop in camera.Every time you take a picture you crop a rectangular frame from a circular image.
The size and shape of the rectangle is surely a decision for the photographer-
Although I must admit,
depending on your style of photography,
and subject matter,
composing within the frame,
whether real or virtual,
is a very good thing-j
Don’t take my words too seriously… sure I do crop sometimes a little bit here and there. I hope there is no issue at all.
Sure they’re all issues-
without them there’d be nothing to talk about-
its the problems we’ve got to watch out for-I sometimes wonder should I use more of those smiley faces.

To go back to your thoughts… you’re saying that a camera can restrain your artistic purpose, therefore it’s necessary to crop..
Well, I agree. I agree so much that when I first started taking pictures, I had the idea that I’ll only take triangle or circle shaped images… I still like the triangles, but I don’t crop my photos like that because that would be very unpractical. I would like a square format sensor in my camera, but I can’t afford one.. At the moment I’m trying to get the most of this sensor and crop the least possible amount.. that’s handy when you want to print as well…
So, thanks for the slap in the face, I promise, I will crop if I feel like cropping… ;)
