It’s a pity this wasn’t closer or shot with a longer lens. The colours are nice.

The composition is centred which is not good. Be better to place the subejct on one of the thirds and then do a nice positional crop around it. That’s what I do if I can’t fill the frame.

    That’s a nice one Evan.

As Aidan said (to me several times) the bird should preferrably be in the bottom left quadrant of this image so that he is facing into the frame (or bottom right if facing the other way). There’s plenty of room to do a crop in this one to make it work.

Regarding the image it is a bit on the large side (484Kb) and anyone on a dial up connection will loose interest within the first 30 seconds of waiting so to get the best chance of feedback keep it around 150Kb +/-. Around 800 pixels along the longest side too will allow for the image to appear complete on most peoples monitor without scrolling to view it all.

It’s way better than my barrel-scraping effort for a robin. Well done. Keep ’em coming.

    Alan.

Like this shot, great colours from the feathers.
Would have shot it the same way myself.
Good tip Joe will need to remember that.

Thanks for the feedback lads, appreciate it :)

I’ll keep the images smaller from now on if I can, I’m on dial-up too….can’t get broadband where I am at the moment!
That image is a crop of a larger one, I’ll upload an alternative crop soon :)

Thanks for the advice all! :D

i like the crop better, but a tiny bit more room on the bottom left around the bird would be nice. also, the color is a little warm. nice detail.

I agree with beth on that. Robins are very friendly but not easy to shot unless they are feeling particularly friendly, or you have a white drainpipe (L, I know, I know, I am jealous..) zoom.
