My daddy’s bigger than your daddy…

Alan RossiterParticipant
This one’s OK…but I’m looking for pointers for the next excursion to improve framing or angle, or what ever.
Alan
bethParticipantit needs more pop to it, some more contrast and/or sharpening. nice pose, i love how its staring right at you.
bethrandomwayMemberThe glance is everything on this picture, I’d crop it really tight or buy a bigger lens ;)
Alan RossiterParticipantbeth – I’ll give it a dose of contrast – see how it goes. The main problem was shooting through glass that knocked the contrast and sharpness.
randomway – I’ll try that too. It should work out. As for lens I was using a non digitally suited 50-500mm, ie, effectively 80-800mm. I ain’t buying bigger! I’ll try to get a better zoom next time, this was only at 230mm and I cropped afterwards to get a tighter framing.
Thanks guys.
Alan.
ExpresbroParticipantAlan…looks like a fine shot to me. I know how hard it is to get a decent shot of the gorillas through that awful plexiglass..there’s more scratches than a WW reg tractor  I was reading that they are going to be upgrading the Gorillas enclosure…and well they should..a majestic animal like that stuck in a pokey little enclosure that is no more than a glorified prison cell. It’s madness really that the most intelligent animal in there is housed in the worst enclosure.
Anyway..enough ranting…I think considering the circumstances this is about as good a shot of the young Gorilla as you’re ever likely to get… :D
Alan RossiterParticipantThanks Expresbro. It wasn’t the scratches on the glass that concerned me more the cracks and chips that bere caused from the inside!! :o
I’ll try to crop to just the face as randomway suggested – it seems like a good idea and one I hadn’t thought of. Just shows the benefits of PI.
When it comes to WW registered tractors I’ll give you a shout sometime

you can ALWAYS do with a bigger lens….
So much for that “size isn’t everything” line that you girls like to use…hehehe!!
AimeeParticipantOh dear…it’s you guys that like to use that phrase.. makes you feel better about your kit.
teeeheeDenverDollParticipanthigh five Aimee!
Size is a very subjective concept.
Tiny size is great when it’s a little baby ape.
That is soooo cute IrishwonkafanAlan.
Just makes me go ~awwwwwwww~ and want to take it and kiss it.
