Its taking me forever to get photos edited these days  – I’m going to have to sort out an archive system very soon before things get out of hand … Anyway – back in street .. this is one from a very wet saturday in Cambridge a few months ago

I haven’t really tried this kind of shot before so I’m more curious than ever to hear your rsponses ;)

nicely seen. can’t say i’ve ever seen that many bikes in one spot..
i like how you got the one foot stopped and the rest as a blur.. was this a spontaneous photograph or was it planned?

Lovely range of tones Lorraine, very nice conversion. My eye is immediately drawn to the bright area in the right of the picture so I might have cropped a bit or burned it in on the right to make the moving figure stand out more. I do love blurry peoples though.

I think you’ll like this dude if you haven’t seen him before: http://www.lensculture.com/titarenko.html

Thanks Beth.. I was caught out in a rain shower and rather than getting wet I dipped into a doorway to wait it out and deicded to tinker around with slow shutter speeds and this was my facourite. Cambridge is famous for bicylces among other things, you can’t avoid them ;)

Mort :) Wow.. thanks for the link – I’ve been looking at his stuff for ages today ( naughty  ) very inspiring and very much the style of shots I am drawn to .. it also makes me think that I should pay alot more to the background / context in this type of shot and try to do more with it ..

Lots of ideas coming .. Thanks a million :)

    Wow Lorraine!

Incredible that you got the one foot stationary. Fantastic and magical.
Sort of a mary poppins visual.

Of course, everything else of the photo is perfect, so for a first time attempt, it works all over the place.

    Love it!!

Thanks Shar .. I’m glad you like it.. very far from perfect .. but I always find mistakes interesting

I had loads of time to tinker with the shutter speeds – again I had my amazing 10-20mm lens on and I was able to shoot from the hip and still catch people without them noticing what I was doing

Looking at the link Mort gave I’m inspired to try it out more, – you can see how beautifully this can really be done.. its worth a look ;)

    Thanks again

You just gotta lot that 10-20mm lens. Super sharp. Nice conversion too
Lorraine, though I’d probably side with Mort here in finding the bright patch
on the rhs a little distracting. Clever and creative image. Nice.

    Thanks Rob :)

I think the bright space in the corner defo needs to be brought down a smidge – (I hade my ND with me and forgot about it  ) so I’ll take a pass at the sign aswell while I’m at it ..

I like the new avatar by the way – but can’t help thinking I’ll miss that handsome chappie from your old one ;)

I’ve been wanting to try that kinda thing for a while. Need to get a fat ND filter and start lurking aroud train stations with a tripod

Thanks Robbie … you’ve got connections I’m sure it won’t take you too long … and after that there’ll be no stopping you as usual ;)

Mort ..really thanks for the link – his stuff is amazing … I’m really inspired to develop some more ideas with it in mind ;) and now I can blame you for the fact there will be no dinner cooked in our house till I work it out .. :)

    See you around Heuston ;)
