50mm
500mm
These are more or less uncropped, needs light but is quite sharp overall.
Oh yeh…….IT’S BLOODY HEAVY! :wink:randomwayMemberThis is what you missed Noely, a long lens. Now you can start praying for light :)
RobMemberCheeses! That’s pretty damn sharp at 500 Noely.
And I see that that lens is also now available for a
four-thirds fitting. That would equate to a 100-1000mm
on my Olympus. Better start saving up…
Now, back to the gym with you for another couple
of hours with the weights…Rob.
Alan RossiterParticipantGlad to see you’ve gound the holy grail of lenses. It’s a heavy bugger but huge potential. Hope you take multivitimins. I find this lens is always on my camera for emergencies and general use but I need to get a smaller lens for those quick opportunities. It’s a cracker and you won’t regret this investment. I’t doesn’t like flys, though.
Alan.
Sgt_MajorMemberIt’s not called the bigma for nothing :D
I hiked up Mount Errigal in Donegal carrying mine, damn my arms were sore at the top :D
joe_elwayParticipantHope it serves you well. I’ve seen some class in flight stuff taken with the bigma before. Time for you to start saving for the 300-800 now :D
Noely FParticipantbethParticipantNoely FParticipantMadra RuaParticipantNoely FParticipantI find it focuses silently and quickly, haven’t had the weather to put it through its paces but it locked on to the oystercatchers very quickly.

This isn’t my experience. Mine isn’t a DG version which may have some impact but it can hunt in normal light as well as low light. What I’ve also noticed is that if it’s almost focused on a subject it can go in the opposite direction, i.e., it will go way out of focus, then come back and settle on the subject – maybe up to 3 seconds of a travel. It may be my camera, the light level, the non DG lens or whatever but it does hunt. A Canon or Nikon does have the HSM option which is quiet – mine doesn’t and is noisy. So Hauke, if you’re contemplating it you should do well with the HSM DG version for your Canon.
