I know posting multiple images is frowned upon, so if you’d like to see more, then head on over here. Might post another in the Fashion section.
carrigmanParticipantFine pic, Thorsten. I’m no portraitist and so am reluctant to comment regarding possible improvements, but I would suggest that a touch of the Healing Tool and/or the Clone Stamp under her right arm to get rid of the crease(?) there – and likewise on her left arm. – might be useful. For what it’s worth, I think this was the best image of a very good series: http://www.pbase.com/tmerz/image/82971590
Regards,
John.
ThorstenMemberThanks John, appreciate the feedback. Never be reluctant to comment, at least not on my images anyway. The very fact that you don’t normally do this type of shot is in itself an advantage because you’re going to see things that I would overlook.
All of these images went from the camera through the raw processor and from there through Photoshop for web finishing (comprising mainly sharpening, watermark, keyline and stripping out the exif header). I didn’t do any other work, not out of some misguided belief that one shouldn’t use photoshop to enhance one’s images, but simply because I want to get to a stage where I can finish a large set of images to a satisfactory standard in as short a time as possible. It’s just the way I like to work, although I will admit to having spent hours working on single images too. Unlike a lot of people, messing about in Photoshop isn’t something I particularly enjoy doing :( The more I can get right in the camera (and raw conversion) the better for me. Anyway, that’s just by way of explaining why some images look the way they do. Your point is a valid one and I may well go back some day and select a number of images to work on a little more, so I appreciate your input!
jb7ParticipantI think I prefer the other image posted here-
and there are lots of good ones on the pbase,
including the first of the series,
and this one-http://www.pbase.com/tmerz/image/82971598

JohnnyMcMillanParticipantIt’s the gaze for me that just doesn’t work I think…technically it’s composed fine and levels etc…all fine, but just her gaze…I don’t know…guess it’s just me
AllinthemindParticipantI agree with JB and Johnny. The expression doesn’t work for me in your original image Thor, the one JB has linked to is the best of the bunch for me. I think it’s the “lazy mouth” look that puts me off, Sorry I can’t articulate it any better.
All best

LucParticipantVery nice portrait!
Just one thing that I would criticize is the direction of her eyes. It seems that she is looking just outside of the camera and this is disturbing IMO.IforParticipantAn extremely pretty young lady. Its those nice blue eyes, they’re simply magnetic I feel dominates the image, in a positive manner. Nice work.
