Just back yesterday from a trekking trip to the Tatras mountains in Poland and Slovakia. Super place. Took lots of pictures only starting to look at them now. Took the below few pictures last week at the start of one days walking. Let me know what you think. These were taken on the Polish side of the Tatras Mountains just south of Zakopane. Hope they are not to dark

Let me know which you like most if any:-), cheers Martin

PS: Did not get a chance to say thanks for the comments on the Howth pictures i posted a few weeks ago as i was off on this trip so thanks to everyone who replied

These are super Martin. Lovely colours and nicely composed.
Only niggle is the mountains in the first 2 look a bit dark, although it could be my laptop…
I like the foreground interest in the first one….I reckon it would be my fave if I could see more detail in the mountains. No.3 looks nice and balanced in terms of colours. Nice work :D

Nice shots Martin. I was only looking at some info on the Tatras the other day and thinking it must be a great place to photograph.

    #2 is my favorite.
Balanced composition, foreground interest and lead-in, nice sky.
Might need a little cw rotation, but that could be the topography throwing me off.

I agree with paperdoll, a bit more detail in the mountains would make this even better.

    Great shots Martin.
It’s as if I’m just standing there at this very moment.
#2 shot would be my Fav.

Yea real nice work Martin – No.1 is excellent. Like mentioned above, number 2 is looking a little dark for me too compared to number 1.

Thanks for the replies all, much appreciated.

paperdoll and Hauke : Thanks for the feedback on the detail in the mountains. On my laptop I can see the detail in the mountains, I seriously need to ditch this laptop and get a properly calibrated PC and screen as its impossible to calibrate the screen on this dell laptop. I did a bit of dodging in PS on the mountains to try to bring out more detail. Hit the refresh button on you browser to get the updated images hopefully they will be a bit better now.

RavenAsh, j_machale : Thanks for the comment

The Tatras mountains are a great place I?ll post more pics over the next week took about 400 pics:-) Food, drink and accommodation is really really cheap there (70 cent a pint). Renting a car is expensive though but there is a train that can bring you around the mountains. If you need any info at all on the Tatras just shout and I?ll tell you all I know. Do you do any trekking or climbing?

The 3rd is my personal preference of 3 very good shots – all extremely well composed imho, I just like the way the stones lead to the hut and it has nice overall balance. Maybe the first is a tad over sharpened in the foreground right? But very good examples of what can be achieved in mid-day conditions.

 Only a little hillwalking… I think I A.) am too lazy to treck long distances, and B.) always carry too much stuff with me.

Beautiful, no. 1 is my favourite, if we’re picking, that is. Just wonder if the stone in front would be better a little to the right, no, leave it as it is!

You’re quite the traveller Martin. Lucky you !!

You’ve come back with some superb shots this year.

The first one in this set is my pick of the bunch. The beautiful meadow is arranged perfectly with the trees on the right and the long sweep into the valley. Very impressive.

I really must make an effort to travel futher than the 100m of Urris coastline !!

    Thanks again for the comments.

brandyman: “Maybe the first is a tad over sharpened in the foreground right” Yes you are correct its possibly a bit over sharpened. When sharpening i should have used the sharpen edges filter to make the sharpening less obvious. Im sure there are better ways of sharpening in PS, i must go on that PS course soon:-)

Madra Rua: 1 is my favorite also, will most prob print this and see what it looks like. You should try a bit more hillwalking as its great when combined with landscape photography.

amcinroy: “You’re quite the traveller Martin. Lucky you”: Yes taking three months unpaid leave from work is the best thing i have done in years. Unfortunately I am back to work in three weeks time though :-(

    Thanks again all

I’ve been to the lower region of these mountains on the slovakian side, and these pictures are just like going back there… I did some trekking in Transylvania, which is very similar to the Tatras. Cheap drink, nice people, gorgeous and wild girls… Thanks for bringing back memories and some warmth with your photos. I almost managed to walk into the field on the third one, and felt the hay and heard the wasps, but I woke up again :(
It’s time to go on holidays I think.
