C&C welcome – learning how to take people shots…

That’s one of the most boring jobs ever… that’s what I see when I look at your photo. The central composition makes it even more boring.

Perhaps that’s part of the story you were trying to tell….that her job is a little less than inspirational!

I know you couldn’t help it but a pigeon sitting on her cart would have enhanced it….:D

Try cropping it in the ratio 1 : 1.68 and get in a bit closer. Also a narrower depth of field would have helped to keep the focus on the vendor – the background is a little busy, so this would isolate her more.

    Hope this helps.

    This has possibilities.

1 – it has a strong sense of emotion: Is it boredoom or is she just miles away thinking of her retirement in a holiday home in South Wales!
2 – I like the DoF, you can see people in the background, but they aren’t clear enough to interfere.

Positionally, if she were a bit higher in the frame, I think it would work better, perhaps trim some of the top off the shot.

I agree with Si, the background does not interefere and gives the atmosphere. So, I would not go for a crop or less DOF, IMO.
Good picture, we are well in the mood.
If you did not say it was pigeon feed, we could guess a long time.
