Not something I shoot very often..but I’ve been looking at this particular wheatfield every day on the way to and from work and decided today that I’d stop the car and get out and try and shoot it. Sky was lovely..light seemed fairly good…it doesn’t have any one thing of particular focal interest (I’ve been watching for a harvester for ages to no avail), but I still think it has some merit.

    Any thoughts?

I do the same thing all the time… drive by something day after day and keep telling myself that I’ll stop and shoot it one day. Glad you made the choice to stop!

It’s a nice shot alright… shame about the harvester though. I’d almost clone it out it’s that small. The sky has been lovely lately… and you caught it well there.

It reminds me of a certain standard Windows XP desktop… the clouds especially :p

Well as long as Mr.Gates doesn’t try to sue me…hehehe!! Don’t think they can copyright the sky can they?

The yellow flowes in left foreground give a lovely point of interest, and scale also. Pity about the grassy bit front right.
Is that a tree on the rt horizon? bit distracting.
    Beyoutifool sky, though.

This is really nice robbie…. You’re right that it would be nice to have that harvester in there somewhere but I don’t think it really detracts from the scene by not having it there.

Only other comment is it would have been good to get some of those tram-lines/tracks as lead-in lines.

Having said that I’d be more than happy with the image as-is if I had taken it.

love the detail in the sky and the colour contrast between the sky and wheat works well …

Cheers again guys. P&S..That is a tree…it’s just over the horizon…considered cloning it..but decided to let it be…hate cloning unless I really have to.

Mr.H …agree about the lines…but it’s private property..and people around there are known to come chasing trespassers with shotguns… So I wasn’t gonna go in any further than I had to….just in case..hehe!! I love photography..but not so much I wanna cop a buttfull of shot pellets!!

DJH …Thanks…that’s what I was hoping to capture when I took it. Plus a rare glimpse of a summer sky this year… :D

Like this shot, did well here with the cloud formations.

Great shot Robbie, I likes it. Great sky, nice shade of Gold on the Wheat, I like the green in the bottem right, adds a bit of contrast. Touch of rolling hills through the field adds interest… good stuff…

Great shot, colours etc are great but as you say it is missing something.

Possibly I don?t know if it would work but just have someone stand at the bottom left (put camera on timer and stand in your self) of the image looking into the field might work but then again it might not but give it a go :-)

Another thing I might have tried is to have moved in closer to the field and left out the foreground you have and just use the top of the wheat field to fill the bottom third. The other two thirds of the image I would have filled the sky with it. This would made a very simple image but with the colours it would have been very strong image I think and might have worked

With a combine harvester or tractor in the field with this composition it would have been a really really strong image
