Roses from the rose garden in St. Anne’s park in Clontarf.
C&C welcome…..I’m trying to embed for the 1st time so not sure if it will work…..
ColmSeems to be working now…
j_machaleParticipantHi,
Just swap the “/img” and “img” tags the other way around and you should sorted
Hope this helps.
John.
mrboswellParticipantj_machaleParticipantNo worries :D
As for the photos, I think the 2nd and 3rd one is excellent! Really nice tones and perfect DOF in the 3rd one.
I’m not really that keen on the first one though as I find petals/stamen in the centre of the pic is just too distracting with the shallow DOF – maybe if the shot was taken at more of an angle there would be a clear point of focus for the picture.
jb7ParticipantGood to see you got them Roses em, in the bed-
Did I mention colour profiles?
I’m guessing you’re using Safari,
and things look just fine-but they look a lot different everywhere else-
The only way to guarantee consistent colour
across all the other browsers
is to post pictures with an sRGB profile-
(even though Safari is now available for pc’s  )I’d agree with j,
2&3 for me,
though in reverse order-Even though no.2’s red channel is so thoroughly blown-
but it should be easy to bring it back if you’re going to print-3rd could maybe do with a little off the bottom,
if it were me,
and I’d also maybe look at the levels-
it seems a bit flat-More nice pictures,
nice quality to your out of focus bits-j
mrboswellParticipantNo worries JB – I’ll excuse the pun….
Thanks folks but I have to confess I’m a complete beginner – I downloaded a trial version of CS3 (30 days now used) and just hit auto colour and levels so I can’t really take credit for the tones/levels but they did look nice on the LCD.
Colour profiles – Safari – your talking Japanese to me there I’m afraid. In terms of Depth of field I’m not too sure how to adjust it – it’s just seems to be working fairly well for me at the minute.
As for the 1st one I actually like the way there is an element of the picture that is too close to focus on. Although I’d agree in this case it’s probably a little distracting – I’d have tried a different angle but I thought the background colour worked really well in this case. I suppose I’d have to sacrifice one thing for another….I just tried a few different things to see how they worked and like them all in they’re own little way – Of course they could be better and I do appreciate your comments and suggestions and if you can clarify any more of your points on the technical stuff I’d be delighted.
Thanks again,
ColmNoely FParticipantmrboswellParticipantThanks Noley – I took about 4 handheld and they all came out really sharp.
AliParticipantRavenAshMembermrboswellParticipantThanks for the comments everyone.
Any opinions on Roses2 – a bit more general but any C&C is welcome.
