Kildare clubs

Hi there,
There’s a few of us in Kildare town region who have joined Dunamaise down in Port Laois. It’s just a 20 minute spin down the motorway. There’s a few people on here who are also in Celbridge which is handy if you’re in the north of the county.

The club in Dunamaise, is it any good? Helpful? outtings? Do ye meet up often?
Im in Newbridge and moving to Rathangan so that would probably be the easiest one for me to be in.

I guess there’s maybe a dozen or so of us. There’s four L shooters that I know of. We meet up every 2nd Wednesday – due again on the 15th – at 20:00 in the Dunamaise social center at the back of the church in the center of town … coincidentally I just found out that my cousin allegedly designed that building!
We’re getting a lot more structured about how we do things. We’ve done a few weeks of photoshop things. We recently had an evening outing to some of the local sights. We’ve an internal club competition plus we compete in all the national stuff too. We’ve some other stuff in discussion too that I can’t go in to.
You’d be more than welcome to come on down. In the meantime, I’m in Kildare town so I’d be happy to meet up with you sometime if you want to chat about it or whatever. Just send me a PM.

Im afraid youre in the same boat as myself. There’s a club in Celbridge which is supposed to be quite good, and also Dunamaise, PortLoise.
Its a shame there isnt one around newbridge, naas area, with the amount of people around you would expect one..

lads im from newbridge to so would there not be nough in newbridge and its surroundings to start a club :D
Hey Guys
I am also in Kildare town, and like you have been wondering about clubs in our area for some time now.
I wonder if any of you had a chance to check out the Dunamaise since this thread was started. Have you any feedback on the club.
I am pretty new to photography and would love the chance of learing some new skills in a club like this, as i dont get out enough with the camera at the moment.Cheers
GaryIm from Rathangan, It seems to me that there are more than enough people in the kildare/newbridge area to start a club.
The fefinition of Club is ‘a group of people associated for a common purpose or mutual advantage, usually in an organization that meets regularly’
Seems to me, we could arrange a meet, and there we go. We’re a club!

Would you fancy coming down to Portlaoise to our club {Dunamaise Photo Soc} ??
To be honest with you Fintan, I was looking for something more local, not that I mind travelling or anything, more that I wanted to really get involved in a club and having it local would let me do that.
However, it really doesnt look like a club is happening around Rathangan, Kildare so I may just come down.
When do you meet and where?
