Puck Fair Killorglin 2007 (Warning 10 Images)
-
MartinParticipant
Was down at the Puck Fair on Saturday. Was a good day. Tried to get some photos of some people or anything that interested me.
I’m very new to taking pictures of people as i mostly do landscapes so any feedback would be most welcome please. Sorry for posting 10 images but i would like to know if any of them are any good or what you might have done differently?
Finding this type of photography very challenging as people are always moving and there is always people moving in front of the camera etc :-)
More images can be found at below link if your not to bored looking at the below ones:-)

jb7ParticipantI reckon 1, 2, 4 and 9 are as good as you’d get anywhere Martin-
the rest are just very good indeed-Really good hit rate-
maybe too many for me to comment individually though-j
RobertoMemberMy favourites are 1,3, 4 and 9 because the briliant faces / emotions.
Number 4 is on top of my list.
Have you tried #4 in b&w? I think would suit better because the colours are ‘distructing’ to see all the different faces, IMO.wjklewisMemberLove number 9 martin and the street stuff is really getting better, well done.
John.RobMemberSuperb set Martin. As Joseph said, some of these are as
good as you’d get anywhere, and I agree. Sterling work.
You have a damn good eye…Rob.
PixelleMembersteelydanParticipant1,4, 9and 10 are great Real characters and great expressions, I also like Number 5 but i think I would crop out the “Lounge ” sign and keep the “Happy 21st Anto” thats a classic.
Madra RuaParticipant4,8,9… brilliant stuff.
Many of these are from your 2.8 200 mm, right?Fair play dude. EXCELLENT!
ExpresbroParticipantFair dues Martin. These shots could grace the pages of any book of classic people photography.
The sort of shots you could look at again and again. Class!!!
MartinParticipantThanks all for the positive comments. I needed good feedback on these after my two previous street postings as they got fairly crap feedback:-)
Glad you liked them as I enjoyed the few hours walking around taking them.
jb7: Thanks for the kind words much appreciated
Roberto: “Have you tried #4 in b&w?” I presume you mean number 3. Yes I tried it in B+W but did not like it. I’ll have a look at it again I just thought that it looked very flat in B+W but maybe your correct
wjklewis: “the street stuff is really getting better” It couldn?t get any worse than my previous two attempts. I?m glad you liked them as I was going to give up trying people/street stuff if these shots went down like a led balloon :-)
Rob: “You have a damn good eye” Don?t know about that but I enjoy taking pictures which is the main thing
p&s: Yea the B+W look and building and clothes in the pictures could be something from the 50’s alright
steelydan: yea it was just faces that I was looking for when taking these shots. I’ll look into taking out the “Lounge” sign and see how it looks. Yea I like the 21st birthday sign also made me laugh
Madra Rua: No 9 taken on my Tokina 12-24 F4 but all the rest were taken on the Nikon 70-200 2.8VR . Seriously excellent lens. This lens focuses so fast and never so far has had to hunt for focus. Can?t believe the sharpness of it.
Expresbro: Thanks for the kind words. I cant see anyone wanting to use my images in a book but it would be nice if it ever happened :-)
GfoxParticipantAn excellent collection of shots there! I’m lucky to get one shot from a days shooting.. Great skill.. That Happy 21st Anto is hilarious.. Great character in all the shots..
mrnevin2001ParticipantEddieParticipantNice collection of work, you have covered everything here with some style. I like the strong close up portraits and the broader enviromental portraits, the five subjects with the cattle in the foreground is my favourite. Ballinasloe is coming up in October, put it in your diary if you can make it. It runs for over a week but there a only a number of fair days, three i think, so check in advance to make sure you go on the correct day. Its a nightmnare for parking so the train is a good option. Well done Martin.
randomwayMemberExcellent photography! Number 9 is my favourite, but I enjoyed all of them.
MartinParticipantThanks again guys for the nice words.
Eddie: Thanks for the info on Ballinasloe. I didn’t know about it. I’ll have a look for when it is on and try to get down
Thanks
Martin
