For christmas this year I would like a Canon EF 1200mm f/5.6L lens. I have been a good boy on at least three occasions this year and once last year too.

Ten in existence, roughly $80,000 USD to purchase and with an XL1 adapter gives a focal length of around 8640mm … That is absolutely outrageous!

The second to last pictures shows it with a 2x adapter attatched also it. “ This doubles the effective focal length to a 35mm equivalent of 17280mm, yes, there are five digits in that number, which of course is utterly insane.

If he can bring one, he may as well make it two and drop one off here also.

…and probably worth more than that now since they dont make them anymore!

Because of the crop factor in digital they probably figure that nobody needs more than 600mm!!

    Oh my good god

thats mental. I new it existed but never seen it in pictures like that, I think they will actually make one to order for people too

You better ask for a sherpa to carry it and another to carry the mental tripod you would need to put it on

I know the BBc have one and I believe national geographic do too

I cant really think of a real practical use for the bloody thing, and even worse how the hell would you check that in with ryanair

    Madness!!

And the silly thing they even go to the depths of informing you that IS is not incorporated into the lens. EARTHQUAKES wouldn’t blur images in that  And I can’t see shutter release blurring it.
