Sunday Fishing
-
ExpresbroParticipant
Taken on a recent trip to Leitrim…. Father and Daughter (I think) preparing to do a spot of fishing on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
And a slightly different angle a few minutes later. While they were fishing…I was shooting 8)
steelydanParticipantI prefer the second Robbie, as the horizon looks a little straighter.I know its not exactly a horizon but my eyes are trying to see if its even enough. Although I think the people are a little soft (and i mean Little) Its a good memory shot, did you ask them could you take it?
ExpresbroParticipantThanks John :D I agree with you on both points. I wasn’t sure what to do with the horizon..as it’s not actually a horizon as such..so I just left it as was, and yes..the people are a little soft and I don’t really know why..possibly focus related as, in answer to your question, I didn’t ask them..they were sneaky paparazzi style grabbed shots…. I was actually sitting on the pier trying to get some landscape/nature shots when they arrived..so every now and then I just couldn’t resist grabbing a shot….if something looks interesting photographically my camera seems to take on a life of it’s own…honestly
Alan RossiterParticipantYeah, I prefer the second too, Robbie. The subjects look a little lost in the first but I see where you were going with it. Maybe a grab upwards with the transform tool to take less sky, just above the tree on the left? Just a thought.
The only minor quibble with the second is a slight over burn on the clouds but it’s a minor detail. It’d be a great family shot for the two, though. They seem to fit the frame perfectly. You get around a bit, don’t you?
Alan
LucParticipantWhat a nice sky! Did you do something to it to obtain such a bright blue in the middle of the clouds?
The second works good, we are in the athmosphere of a nice fishing afternoon.rmMemberExpresbroParticipantAlan…thanks for the tip…now all I have to do is figure out what the transform tool is and what it does…hehe!! I spend too much time playing with my camera to get time to get more familiar with PS. so I’ve never used that tool.
Luc…Only thing I did was select the sky portion with the magnetic lasso and then boost the midtones and shadows in levels. Believe me Luc, when it comes to photoshop, I never do anything too technical..not from preference though..just lack of skills
rm ..thanks ..not sure I did justice to the scene with either of these really..but that’s what ya get when ya shoot candids I suppose 8)
kram9142ParticipantI think there is too much wasted space here. It is as if you have to ask the question whats the focal point, the father 7 Daughter fishing or the lake.
I think its a nice shot for a family member but not for anyone with no association, if ya know what I mean.
Sorry for the neagativity.
Rgds.
ExpresbroParticipantThat’s okay Kram… I don’t see it as negativity..constructive criticism never is in my book. It’s mostly how I’ve leaned on PI and elsewhere. I’ll take your comments and the others and remember for next time :D
At least you took time to comment..and that is more important.
Cheers
