Trip to China 2007

Hi
I was in China for seven weeks this summer. Some of the time I spent teaching English in Beijing and the rest of the time I spent touring around China and taking in some of the countries splendid scenic beauty. I have picked a few of the pictures that I took, none of the ones from the nights out… 8) , and hopefully you will enjoy them. As I am relatively new to photography I have not done anythin to these photos except for shrinking them to put them on the net. If you have any tips for post-processing on the pictures, I would be greatly appreciative.
Thanks
A pond in Tsinghua University in Beijing. I love how the flowers do stand up away from the lillies. Unfortunately there is one lilly in the way, but sure in all in anyways.
I tried to use the leaves of the tree to act as a window to the image. It was a little bit hazy (something thats very common in China) so the Tower in the background is a little hard to see but I like how the backgrounds are in stages behind each other.
This is apicture of me that m girlfriend took. I’m not posing…. honest. I just think it came out looking really well. If I ever release an album this is the cover that I would use for the cd, haha.
This is sunrise over a mountain where the Great Wall is dissaperaing over the ridge. It’s not the best of shots (and to be honest I don’t think any shot I took could have done the scene justice). I was wondering if anyone has any ideas about anything that I could do to the picture to make it look a bit better. It’s a bit hard to see everything in the picture clearly.
I really like this picture…… except for the power lines. I took the picture through a rusting old fence and I just thought that it complemented the image in the background.
This is a shot of the sunrise on Mt. Huangshan in Anhui Province. These mountains are really beautiful but they can be extrememly cloudy (2 – 3 metre visibility) at times. This was an attempt at the sunrise in a brief break in the clouds.
This is another shot of the mountains in Huangshan. Its at another break in the clouds. I think it actually looks good with the clouds trying their best to hide the mountains. It minds me of one of them american viet nam movies where the soldiers are moving through the fields and the clouds are coming down around them….. sorry excuse the ramblings of a dimented person.Like I said if anyone can offer any advice about the pictures I would be greatly appreciative.
Thanks
Brian(hope thats ok for my first proper post……)
aine60ParticipantHi, looks like you had a great trip. My favourite is the last one, though I think it could be brightened up a little. I am fairly new to photography myself, maybe some of the more experienced people here could make some suggestions.

irishshaguaParticipantHi
Cheers fo the response. Yeah I suppose I could brighten up the last one a bit. I do be a bit nervous about changinf the pictures sometimes with the computer…. feels like I’m cheating. haha ;-)
DenverDollParticipantHi there!
Just wanted to tell you that first shot of the lilies is lovely!
The rest were very good too..but I think you could have posted the first one on it’s own and gotten a lot of comment and advice for it alone….sometimes people haven’t got enough time to seperate out each photo and comment. You have a beautiful set there…thanks for sharing!
