Rescue CF card question

A colleague of mine has given me a CF card he can’t open. His holiday snaps are on it.

I’ve sandisk rescue software but the big problem is that the CF card is not being recognised by the computer. I’ve tried different card readers and xp and mac. The ‘drive’ isnt showing on any of the file management software like my computer or finder.

    Any ideas people?

This is prob the software you tried, but I’ve had good luck with RescuePro:

Can you connect without the card reader, ie cord direct from camera to computer?

Leave connected, and on, and reboot computer to recognize drive?

    I dunno… that’s it for ideas

    Hi Fintan,

The one fright I got with a such a dilemma was solved by an application called Photorescue. It allows the computer (there’s a Mac and PC version) to mount even corrupt disks.

See http://www.datarescue.com/ and click on Photorescue. Yoou can get a demo for free there.
    Good luck with it.

    Tom.
