I’m just learning myself,i like the first one better,it’s brighter.

I have been told that, alot of it is manipulation afterwards.i have tried this with cropping, and it seems to work if you have a high pixel camera.”10.2 etc”

Mind you that’s just what i have been told.
Some of the experts will fill you in shortly.

    Hi Marty-

    First things first-
pictures of flowers are exercises in colour and geometry-
    (at one level, anyway)
and the colour in both could be a lot better-
the red channel in the first is off the scale,
which loses the detail that makes up the geometry-
    Its just not there anymore-

The colour in the second has gone the other direction-
you’ve retained the texture in the petals,
but it seems quite flat overall-

Have a look at the RGB levels for both-

    If you’re working from raw,
you may be able to re-process, and reduce exposure for the first-

If you get the colour right,
you might find that the composition improves too-

Hope this helps in some way-

JB I shot them in raw so I’ll try and reprocess to improve them

Great potential for these images, very hard to balance colour in bright sunlight, flowers are best shot on a bright cloudy day.
