Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM vs Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II

    I am thinking of getting one of these lenses , i be using it for familly get togethers etc , They both have the good and bad points ,can’t decide which one to get any opinions

    Well, the 24-70 is perfect for portraits and very small groups, the 16-35 is much wider and really more suitable for large group shots. It’ll make people look fat and bulgy if you fill the frame with somebody’s head.

    Hi,

    I have the 17-40 f4 L on a 5D and im getting a lot of chromatic abberation wide open 17mm and my brother is using the 28-70 f2-8 L on a canon 5D and its a fantastic lens and a good all rounder, I have my eye on one !

    For what you want it for, the 24-70. The 16-35 is just too wide for general use, though at the longer end will be just about ok, but only if you’re using it on a small sensor body.

    24-70L everytime, on ff its the best I have seen. My copy is super sharp
