Took a few shots at Foto Island in cork yesterday.
    Using the Sigma 70-300

They both made me smile. If it’s not a girl ostrich then it ought
    to be with those lashes.
Shame the neck (?) wasn’t a bit further over in the 2nd shot.

Thanks Pete, agree about the neck in the second shot.

My “model” kept moving on me, I take it the Ostrich was female as she looks to be smiling for me in the second shot. :)

Ha! I’m waiting for the shot that shows Rod Hull with his arm up the Ostriches…wait, that was an Emu.

You can’t help liking these creatures but also slightly hesitant on getting too close. Were you lucky in the long lens owner sense or were they close to the side of the road? Either way they ooze character, despite the neck in the second. The second does look a little soft too but a minor gripe – the content carries it.

Lovely shot. Although the left eye (right facing) of the Ostrich in the first shot looks a bit…… Clockwork orangy…….. It didn’t try to attack you did it?

I noticed that myself, don’t know why it did that. Unless someone can shed some light on how that would happen.
Nope it didn’t attack, there’s a wire fence, a ditch and a wooden fence plus the long lens between us. :)

The eye is quite protuberant (an ostrich’s eye, after all, is as big as its brain)
and the light has been reflected off the iris and back out the other side
of the cortex. That’s my guess anyway.
