Epson R800

I bought an Epson R800 a while back, but have never been able to get the colour profiles correct on it. The printer always seems to print the images darker than they appear on the screen.

Any one else out there with the same printer that resolved this issue?

    Is your monitor profiled?

Its possible you have it set up too bright-
one workaround is to alter the settings on the monitor until it matches your print-
    like profiling in reverse-

The space where you view the monitor can be quite important too-

I assume you’re using Epson inks, and paper for which you have the correct profiles?
You can check out the proofing setup in photoshop and Aperture,
and I assume some of the others-

If you’re on a pc, I’m sure someone can help you-
If you’re on a mac, it should work quite well using ColorSync, straight out of the box-

    hi, thanks for replying

I actually print off my laptop, but have also printed of my wife’s desktop and the problem still occurs.

I have a Pantone Huey Colour Calibrator setup on both the laptop and desktop, and run the monitor and printer off of the profile that the Huey creates. The huey calibrates depending on the lighting in the room.

I am using Epson inks alright and using the correct paper settings for the paper I’m printing on.
I’ll have a look at that option in photoshop next time though to see what’s happening

What application are you printing from? They will all dictate their own style initially and depending on their setup they may be easily set up for the printer, or in the case of that wonderfully named “Windows Picture and Fax Viewer” they may come out dark. I’d suggest printing from one application only and get that one right. Hope you’ve patience…

does the pantone huey do a print profile??

i thought it was only a monitor calibrator

you should not be using that profile for printing, you should download the profiles from the epson website, well if your using epson paper

if you are using another manufacturers paper you need to download profiles from their website for the paper you are using
