Mark was nice enough to send me a welcome PM and suggest I post an introduction so how could I refuse :)
In my early teenage years I started getting into photography when my parents got their first digital camera and gave me their old Olympus OM/1 and three lenses, a 28mm, a 50mm, and an 80-210 zoom. I loved that camera. I wasn’t particularly good but I had fun and did manage to get some descent shots amidst a lot of crap. Then, as all teenagers seem to do I lost interest. The OM/1 died after a lot of (ab)use and the hand-me-down early digicams I got from my parents only turned me off. There’s no other way to say it, they sucked!
So, for a long time I didn’t really do the whole photography thing. Then, this year I decided to save up some money and give it another go. I got my Nikon D40 in May and have been having a lot of fun with it since. I’m still very much learning which is really why I joined up here. There’s nothing like constructive criticism to help someone move forward. I keep a good collection of my work on my website at http://www.bartbusschots.ie/gallery and I’ve stuck my favourite image to date into the bottom of this post.
