Had a very creative 2 hours in the studio with Carrie this afternoon. Using different colours and textures. What do you think? All comments are better than none. AS someone said recently, I would rather have 5 people hate it, and 5 people love it, than have 10 people who were indifferent.

Magazine cover stuff Ross. It would be interesting to hear how
you set this shot up, lighting, etc., and how you approached your
post processing. Considering all the highlights in the plastic sheeting
(well exposed by the way) it’s a wonder there aren’t any hotspots
on the skin (or did that require a little photoshop work?).
I quite like the enhancement of the eye colour to tie in with the
background and fingernails. Nice detail in the shadows too, though
the skin is almost too smooth and I think a little less work in that
area would make give this image a bit more edge.

If this were one of mine (which it clearly isn’t because I haven’t reached
this level yet) I’d have posted this in the Fashion forum. ‘People’ don’t
look like this in real life; well, not in Kells anyway…

Thanks Rob. The shot was intended to be very ‘commercial’ or magazine style as you have noticed, and hence the processing. You never know, it might end up on a magazine cover sometime! lol

Ross, this looks brilliant. The blue blue and blue creates a great effect.
I don’t know if the eyes aren’t a bit hard to swallow, but they certainly
    complement the overall image.

What’s the black line for though? I reckon it doesn’t add nuffink.

Thanks Pete. The black line is not new – I have been doing it since the Bjorn Thomassen course in Cork a few months back. Just an inner border, but your view is taken on board!

This is Carrie without the skin processing and digital make-up which I applied to the cheek bones etc in the other picture. Still a very natural looking lady.

Ross as Rob said the first one is straight of a magazine cover absolutely brilliant that good it makes a good portrait in No2 look plain (badly put I know).
    Can’t wait on the rest.

Wow Ross thats about all I can say. I love the proccessing on the first one, but the last one is stunning. The slight tilt on the head makes her jawline stand out perfectly. Hats off to you M8.

Brilliant set.First is great,as is the third. If you put up the second by itself,it would have looked better(not that it’s bad)The other two are special.

    Lovely work Ross.

First one for me too Ross – super shot. If I was to nit-pick, maybe Carrie’s face looks to have had a little too much smoothing applied (so the normal range of tones have disappeared).

The overall look is great though!

I had to sign up and give praise to this photo. I think it?s absolutely fabulous. Everything about it stunning esp the blues. Job well done. I?d love to master this technique.

Nice shots Ross…. I think Carrie has the perfect face for this kind of work. Out of the 3, I think the last (Golden) one would be my favourite. One thing I’d do myself though, if I was shooting this, would be ask the model to have her nails done. It’s a small detail, but I think this kind of photography is all about attention to detail. Nice work.
