Its the high constrast, grain look which I quite like in this.

d50’s iso is something awful, shooting with a friends with a f1.4, light was a rare comodity as a result :(
Nice to see shadows in portraits, I hate the white background flood-light look. Keep going :) Maybe try and get some more expression from your subject, tell them a story :)
