You all know that inside that hard drive of yours is a little spinning disc over which a recording head is “flying” and reading and writing your data.
Now here’s the interesting bit.
Consider that head as a 747 airliner and the disc as the ground.
That jumbo jet is flying at the equivalent of 800x the speed of sound
That jumbo jet is flying at the equivalent of 1cm off the ground.
Inside that jumbo jet is a person whose job it is to count every blade of grass
That person must not make more than 10 errors in a strip of grass the length of Ireland.

That is pretty cool. In my windows machine its more like a cessna flying round in circles and the person counting the blades of grass is drunk.
