Just toying with some of those close-up filter type lenses attached to my
14-54mm Zuiko. For ?16 on Ebay, I’m quite pleased with the result…Rob.
sean1098MemberThis is very different from you Rob,the detail is good, and the DOF is tiny, was this done post/or from the actual shot.
RobMemberThanks for looking Sean.
This is the actual shot, and yes, the DOF can be measured in millimetres.
I applied a little sharpening, as you must when you shoot RAW, but other
than that there’s nothing else been done…Rob.

Good to know, did not realise you could go so small with DOF.
thank’s
Sean.jb7ParticipantThat dof looks like its around the single millimeter-
but it also looks to me as if its maybe not the same quality as a reversed standard lens-
Perhaps a better test would be to photograph something flat, set up parallel to the film plane-
That might show the quality of the image in the centre and the edges-What aperture did you use?
I recently did some reversed stuff,
on a 50mm Nikkor, and a 50mm Zuiko like yours,
and the Zuiko seems to be by far the better performer, so far-j
RobMemberYou’re more than likely correct Joseph – I think the quality of the
reversed lens far outweighs anything achieveable with these ‘cheap’
close-up lenses. Though I will test them further with something flat
and set up parallel. This one was at f/3.5 though looking at it you’d
think it was more like f/0.35.
By the way, I must try your 24mm reversed before I return it you,
though I’ll have to see if I can get a reversing ring – this holding the
lens against the body business is bloody awkward…Rob.
