Hook Head, County Wexford at 5pm this evening. Canon 5D, Sigma 70-200 f/2.8, 15 sec f/11, ISO 100, RAW original. A car happened to drive by so the long exposure captured the red tail-lights.

MeoParticipantNice shot, I like the effect of the misty water. Hook head is a great spot, used to go there a lot when the Vikings Nomad used to have their show there!!!! Nice effect with the car light too!
lousyParticipantnfl-fanParticipantWow… this is brill… I was down there myself during the summer but didn’t manage to get anything as fine as this… lousy… I think I feel a plan coming together!!!
KeithdubParticipantI think this is a great shot. The water in particular is fantastic.

snaphappyMemberI can only agree with above this very well taken.when ever I try this the lights tend to blow out the photo well done ….
Brian_CParticipantI’m gonna go against the grain here. It has all the requirements for a great photo, but I can’t help but think the composition could be improved. For me the lighthouse is just too central. I’ve tried scrolling down to crop off some of the water in the foregroud, making it more a pano. I think it looks a little stronger.
I’d also like to see a bit of the RHS cropped off too.Don’t get me wrong, it’s very well executed. IMHO I just think the compo is a little, mmm well, boring…..
Alan RossiterParticipantPersonally I’d give it a slight CCW rotation to make the tower straight but other than that I’sd have to say it’s the best photograph I’ve seen of Hook Head and anyone, everyone in Wexford has seen more than their fair share of this place. I’d expect to see a pirate ship on the horizon with this sort of image.

freemasterParticipantrichiehatchMemberOverall a really well handled image in terms of exposure, white balance, sharpness and processing but I have to say I am with Brian C when it comes to the composition. Maybe a bit less foreground water and if the lighthouse was positioned slightly more to the left of the shot it would be improved. I do love the way the water is catching the light from the lighthouse all the same so maybe cropping out too much water would be a bad thing…! Swings and roundabouts I reckon…! Just my opinions and well done for getting out there…
