Taken yesterday whilst out and about with lousyphoto and irishwonkafan…
jb7ParticipantThere’s lots to like about this one-
I like the light, and all the elements in it-
the overgrown flowers, and the old railings in particular-but there’s something not quite right about it compositionally, for me-
I can’t quite put my finger on it-
maybe its because its too spread out, too disparate-still do like it though-
j
Alan RossiterParticipantI’ll put my finger on it Joseph. Everything looks like it’s facing out to the left. It’s an odd one but I do like this one a lot. It plays with the head compositionally but the tone and the softness make a great photograph.

Sean.
PitmaticMemberI like it the tones are great and it has an unsetteling quality toboot
you just want to feel the lichens :)
lousyParticipantThe overall is very good J but IMHO if you had taken a few steps to the left it possibly might have been better, reason being, I would have liked to have seen the old ruin more face on. but sure what do I know!
Pat
gavinParticipantGreat shot lovely tones…I feel that same, that composition wise something just niggles, it may be that there are two items competing for your attention the cross headstone and the ruin…maybe??? either way a lovely shot.
nfl-fanParticipantThanks for all your feedback people.
I tend to agree that compositionally it does play with your head… but in a manner which has you undecided, which sometimes can be an interesting aspect of a photo I think.
I think ‘unsetteling’ is probably the most accurate description!
DJHParticipantThis is fab, aside from the processing which is superb, what makes it for me is that the image makes you stop and start thinking about it … it’s spooky … it’s ancientold and worn … what’s happened here …
top marks …
Big FellaParticipantnfl-fanParticipantThanks Stephen! Nice to see the ‘Ol Graveyard popup again. This is one of my favourtive shots in recent times, I just wish I could remember what conversion steps I took!
