Hi! Actually I’m foreigner. I’m staying Cork.
I want to buy 400d from ebay. It’s from UK
When I get this stuff in Ireand, do I have to pay customs duty? And where do I pay?
Could you suggest me a shop. I wanna save cost.
please answerrandomwayMemberHi. If you’re buying from the UK and they say, it’ll be shipped from the UK, you don’t have to pay duty/vat. The easiest and safest way to pay in my opinion is PayPal. If you search for a 400d and filter the search for UK/Ireland, you’ll get numerous sellers. Hope it helps.
PeteTheBlokeMemberTake care that you buy from someone with impeccable feedback. I’m sure you’re
experienced, but there are some sharks looking to sell across country boundaries
because they know it’s harder to resolve any problems.Welcome to the site too.
BarkerPhotographicParticipant‘Just to make a small correction to RANDOMWAY’S response: You WILL have to pay VAT (UK rate) unless you have an Irish Vat Reg No. but no duty is payable within the EU.
randomwayMemberSorry for not being precise… I wanted to say that you don’t pay any extra on the price if vat is included in it (I’m so used to watch the incl. vat prices). Thanks Paddy for correcting me!
MeoParticipantOnce you buy within the EU you won’t have to pay vat or duty again – provided you paid it once in country it comes from – I have a habbit of being a little muddled when trying to explain things excuse me – I bought my camera and equipment in the Uk, it was sent by courier within jig time and it was all a lot less than I would have had to pay here – actually I saved a good few hundred! If you look in the back of some of the popular photographic magazines which you can get in places like Easons there are lists of reputable shops across the UK listed. They nearly all have websites you can look up too when you have their names. For me the major advantage with buying in the UK was I wouldn’ t have had to go far if I had a problem with the camera, which I haven’t had!
I hope this is helpful to you, good luck with your purchase where ever you buy.
