I’m kinda surprised you put this one in sports Rob-
it was a bad evening for sailing,
no wind, and the race was abandoned-
It no more looks like sports than my one, taken a couple of seconds earlier, according to the exif-
Not sure about the processing either,
it looks a little heavy handed to me-
Ken Rockwell, that funny American who reviews equipment sometimes,
always goes on about vignetting on lenses not being a problem,
unless you take pictures of blank walls-
Well, maybe for him its not a problem,
but if you take pictures out on the bay,
its the photographic equivalent of a blank wall-
and adding contrast to one of my pictures will usually give me all the vignetting I need-
Anyway, beside the point-
here’s mine from a couple of seconds earlier-
and just a quickie, not been near photoshop, straight out of Aperture, where it was processed more heavily than usual-
Looks like it could use more contrast against the white here-
Sports? You’re probably right about that; it was a poor day
for sailing and not many of the boats took this much of a lean
away from the tiny breath of wind.
The processing is just a result of my faffing about too much, trying
to pull some detail out of the bland sky behind, the vignetting an
afterthought – I thought afterwards it improved it. Then again…
