How’d ya like them apples?

FlipflipParticipant
Hey, just a little curious.
How many Mac users are there on the board.
Considering Mac’s are supposed to be the comp of choice for Photographers, I dont know many photographers who use them.
I just got a MacBook a few weeks ago cause I was sick of Vista. I got aperture with it and I must say it’s a great program.
So how do the numbers compare?
richiehatchMemberMac me…! I work on them and use them at home. Nothings against PC’s… they do what they do… I just use the best tool for the jobs I do…! Also I reckon is was destiny that I would use Mac as I was born on the same day as Apple was. Yes I am a fool.

(Oh I also do some Mac Support if anyones is interested…!)
stcstcMemberapple and windows, actually now both on the same boxes.
macpro 8Gig ram & 2.75Tb storage
macbook proIOPParticipantSo I’m now the 4th Mac user and have just voted. So how come the poll says 2 Macs and 7 PC’s at the time I voted? Maybe it’s another Windows conspiracy :D
BTW MacBook Pro 17in.
Am now on my 11th Mac since 1989 (not including 2 Mac Clones from PowerComputing and 1 from Umax!)

MartinParticipantYesterday i used to use a PC but today i just received my 24inch 2.8ghz IMac with 4gb of ram. Just waiting for the taxi at the moment here in work to bring me and the mac home. Cant wait to set it up :-))))
Will be dual booting it between vista and leopard

be careful with vista
i have heard some horror stories
I still run xp pro on my dual boots
constantineParticipantPeteMcDMemberMac man here too. 3 yr old ibook, hasn’t skipped a beat, and runs lightroom and photoshop no prob…well, maybe not both at the same time!! A nice new macbook is due sometime next year.
I’m not much of a fiddler, so it suits me well.
Congrats on the 24inch imac martin. That is a beast!! It should take you about 5 mins to set up….and most of that will be taken up by admiring how nicely its packaged!
Interested to see how you find aperture, flipflip (and good work on the macbook!). I went with lightroom because there seems to be a larger user base and consequently more support and tips floating around the web. Plus I presumed it should integrate pretty well with PS, being Adobe and all that. But I’m sure Aperture’s integration with other Apple software is much better.
monoParticipantI use Win XP, Vista and Ubuntu a linux based OS with a great GUI…
And I hate Apple….
Mick451ParticipantFirst Mac I worked on was a IIfx and I can remember it costing a bloody fortune (in my book) for my employer back then.
First Mac I owned was an LC on which I used design bookcovers when I was freelancing…shag all RAM and no layers in Photoshop back then ;)
After that, it was a Quadra at work, then a Powerbook and a blueygreen iMac bubblebox at home, and then a white baby iBook…which i still use for writing.
These days, well, for the last 8 years or so, I’ve been on PC desktops at work and home.
I’ve pretty much spent my working life using just Photoshop and, aside from some differences in keyboard shortcuts, the platform makes little or no difference to me so i have no preference. I work on PCs during the day in the office and on my own stuff in the evenings. I also work on her Mac in the evenings quite regularly, touching images and tidying up her absolute mess of a desktop – it’s some stuffed to the gills powerbook that’s hooked to her Phase One Hassie when she’s working.
Can’t say as I’ve had any major issues with either platform or OS.Haven’t tried Lightroom or Aperture, but I can vouch for the Capture One software which is what herself uses.
