JokerParticipant
I dunno why, I just hate that website.
Anybody else feel like this or am I the only amature photographer on the planet that hates it?irishshaguaParticipantah its good for having a look at what other people are churning out. Its nice to know that there are a lot of people only at the same level as yoursel…. of course then there’s the ones who are far better than you.
constantineParticipantWhats the point in hating a website. Just don’t use it.
Create your own website. Call it http://www.ihateflickrbecauseithinktheyareabunchoftools.com (its available on 123reg.com, I even checked for ya)
Give your hate a worthy outlet. You should also call Joe Duffy.
Happy frothing for no reason whatsoever.
irishshaguaParticipantyou should of reserved the website constantine. Then you could have charged him for the right to use that domain name…..

constantineParticipantI think I will irish.
http://www.joeduffysapox.com is also available. Cool.
I’ll have a special ”Mary from Clunntarrff” section, it’ll be deadly so it will.
yeahyeahsuresure
irishshaguaParticipantJaysus good thinkin, u can make millions sellin it to those Apres Match lads. You won’t have to bother with this photography malarky after that and jus sail off into the sunset…
constantineParticipantJust as well. Two chances of me making a living off this lark. Slim an nil.
Mick451ParticipantUsed to love it and regularly put stuff up there for about a year.
Grew very tired of it a few months ago: the inane comments, invites, groups being nothing more than dumping grounds, people adding you as a contact for no apparent reason, yadda yadda yadda. Deleted that account and set up a new one cos I missed viewing the work of some photographers and having a catalogue of favourite images to look at. It’s just a place I use to keep in touch with a few people now, and not a big social thing.ThorstenMemberOf all the image hosting sites that are out there, Flickr is one I like the least and therefore visit the least. My favourites are PBase and SmugMug and Photo.net. Some PBase members create a great online magazine as well, which is worth checking out (PBase Magazine). I’m sure there are others out there that hate my favourites – thank goodness for choice!
Both PBase and SmugMug galleries can be significantly altered using CSS to the point where they are no longer recognisable as PBase or SmugMug hosted galleries.
carpedeumParticipantI’ve started using http://www.pix.ie
It’s a new Irish startup and not that sophisticated yet.
The guys behind it seem to have plans to develope it as a Flickresque type site.CianMcLiamParticipantThe first time one of my photos on Flickr got noticed and attracted comments I thought I would stride the globe in a single bound and the new century would be referred to as the ‘Williams Era’. Then I saw any old muck on there can get comments that could come right out of one of those herbal essences ads with yer one in the shower shouting ‘yes, yes, YES!!’. Don’t use it so much anymore :)
yorizzMemberyep, agree with carpedeum. pix feels a lot smoother than flickr. I like how your photos swizz out when you hover over a photo in an album.
irishshaguaParticipantseanmcfotoMemberI quite like Flickr, and unlike Thorsten, I grew to hate Pbase.
I’m there mostly due to the Strobist group, but Galway camera club have a group also.Like anything, it’s what you make of it. As to inane comments etc, stop putting the shots in the Rate my Girlfriend pool ;)
