Castlerock Beach

It’s been a while since I last posted, so I thought I would upload something before Santa arrives next week.
This is Castlerock beach, in County Londonderry, taken from the pier looking back towards the beach, with Mussendun Temple / Co Donegal in the distance. Converted to B&W & added a little lightning bolt just for a bit of fun! :DHere’s wishing everyone a happy Christmas & prosperous 2008.
PeteMcDMemberI like it! The lightening is a fun touch, and it actually works well — I think! Great atmosphere. A very sellable image, I’m sure. Composition and foreground interest is great. A nice, different, view of Mussendun.

nfl-fanParticipantThe minute I looked at this pic I thought.. ‘how the bloody hell did he managed to get all that and the lightning?’. T’wasnt till I read your commentary that I realised it wasn’t a natural bolt :D
Still though I really like this pic, it’s dark, it’s moody, it’s stormy and you could just imagine some sort of vampire bat flying over the rocks.
Well done!
richiehatchMemberI like it Steven. Lovely conversion and the lightening really works I think. Would be lovely as a massive print.

VAubreyMemberI like this photo. It has really interesting mood.
Did you try to add an old weird castle in the foreground? This image evokes such thoughts, lol
is it possible to take a shot of real lightening?
lousyParticipantAnd a nice bit of fun it is Steven, you had em all fooled including me. Looks good, I like it
Pat
ossie13ParticipantNice one Steven and another you had fooled with that bolt of lightening
Cheers Steve

the image is great. I would be tempted to darken the lightning slightly, it maybe stands out too much
but i do think it works
sean1098MemberThis is great steven,it,s been a while alright,.I like the conversion.”brilliant”.
Have a good one,
ean.
ajParticipantRodcunhaParticipantFabulous work as usual Steven, not so sure about adding the lightning bolt though… but… still a great job…
Happy Xmas Steven (PM Sent to you by the way)

StevenHannaMemberThanks everyone for the kind comments.
Still undecided about the lightning, not sure whether I’ll leave it in on the finished version, but thought I’d have a little bit of fun with this version.Steven
andy mcinroyParticipantVery nice Steven,
Down by the pier is a great spot. I keep meaning to get down there on a really stormy day to see the waves breaking over it.
I love the sky on this one.
I can’t say that the lightning works for me, but it’s Christmas after all.
Andy
Brian_CParticipantI like it Steve, it’s mmmm, something a little differant. The lightning works for me and I like the atmosphere too.
Anyway, have a good ‘un and Happy Christmas to one and all.
Alan RossiterParticipantWelcome back Steve. Your presence and style were missed.
I love this shot. I wonder if you would have received comments about the lightning if you hadn’t mentioned that it was planted. I think it’s fantastic and I wouldn’t have questioned it’s authenticity. Great shot.
Alan.
