The Shamrock, souvenir emporium and funeral directors… only in Ireland…
Rob.
lousyParticipantThere’s always one somewhere. We have a Bar and Undertaker in Wexford.. when I get a chance I’ll get a shot of it and post it.
Nice pic
Pat
RobMemberCheers Pat.
Wasn’t sure whether or not to post this as it doesn’t really
work at this scale. Looking forward to seeing your Alcoholic Undertaker…Rob.
VAubreyMemberThis combination sounds creepy. Souvenirs, toys and… funeral things are together…
IforParticipantWhere else but Ireland.
Saw one in Dublin many years ago offering 10% discount on funerals!
They’re certainly worth taking photos of, for the record.MartinParticipantSome people in Ireland would do anything for a few quid. Is this in Kells Rob:-)
DenverDollParticipantAwww~~
This is charming Rob!
Thanks for the chuckle…love these sorts of documents…someday we’ll all miss such characters
Sharon
lousyParticipantHi Rob, hope you dont mind me hogging your thread, but I went into town this morning and got this shot of the bar and undertakers as discussed in an earlier post. It might be an idea to get a separate thread for all the unusual shopfronts in Ireland.
You could get a drink drop dead and get burried all in one… great value.. cheers.
Pat
ps.. The owner actually asked me in for a drink!… Gospel..
PeteTheBlokeMemberBelter! I think it shows the healthy Irish attitude towards death.
I come from Wales where it’s practically a taboo subject. A funeral
a week after death is considered “undue haste”, a wake would frighten
the legs off them and no one knows what to say to the bereaved so they
tend to ignore the subject entirely.Rob’s shot made me think of a joke I made about my Irish citizenship
application. I told a friend that I sent a photo that was signed by the priest
and wotnot, just like a passport application, and that when it came back with
my certificate of Irishness they’d given me a red beard and a green cap. For
a wonderful second he looked shocked before he realised I was pulling his leg.PitmaticMemberThere is a few miles from where I live a Pub and petrol station  which everytime I go past I cant help but think I must get a photo.
IforParticipantWell said Pete, its amazing the difference in attitude between two countries that are next to one another.
Like the word spirits there as well!!
These are the “Gallaghers” shots of tomorrow.
ulinkaMemberI actually know this shop, it’s deadly inside, worth poping in :p … Not !
Anyway, next door, there’s a lovely shop, Carol ownes it, and she is one of the most brilliant interior designer in Ireland probably…RobMemberThanks for all the nice comments folks.
Martin, this is in Kells, about five minutes walk from my house,
and as Urszula mentioned, it’s worth popping in… not!
Urszula, I must pop in to Carol next time I require some brilliant
interior designs…Rob.
