Miss Limerick 2007

Going through some old photos :)
Miss Limerick 2007, Erica Salmon, just after the coronation at the Trinity Rooms, Limerick.
The shot is part of a series. The lighting was very tricky, and this one is with available light only (as the flash was recycling from the previous shot :). ) This one took a lot of color correction in post, as the light was awful, but I think it came out nicely matching the color of her dress. I chose this one to post because of the eye contact. There were about five photogs shooting at the time.
It was my first time shooting such an event, and man do you earn something about event photography! For example how limiting a fixed focal lens can be when people are pushing and space is tight.
50mm f/1.8 f/5.6, 1/100s, ISO 800.
Sgt_MajorMemberMarkKeymasterYou did great with the light for certain. Looks nice and sharp also.
Good to see the technical details also !
VAubreyMemberSodafarlMemberMikkel nice shot agree with the rest a great picture.

I bet, I’d look better, lol :wink:You certainly look good, but do you look better than Ms. Salmon … ?! Only one way to find out: Miss Limerick 2008 is coming up and Erica will be there all dressed up, so if you are in the neighbourhood
Anyway, give me a holla if you happen to pass by Limerick, and we’ll do a shoot together.

VAubreyMemberIt’s childish only, sorry
I don’t think I want to be a model, I guess it’s a quite bored business.Your photo is very good, I know it’s not a simple thing to take such shots, I tried it one time and got a couple of good photos only. People were very strange looking on my photos, lol, so I prefer candid shots for myself

But hey, let’s not let this thread get caught up whether or not you want to model for a few pictures, I’m really happy you all like the picture. I was a bit worried that the very (too) tight crop would ruin the picture. I mean, part of the hand is missing, the crown is also not complete, and so forth. As I was shooting with a prime lens, and I couldn’t get any further back I had to accept the framing. As I wrote, it was my first time shooting such an event, and it was a lot of fun and a real eye opener for how difficult it is.
Cheers
Mikkel
