I like the detail and sharpness in this, the colours are nice, too. I think, the framing is a bit too tight and maybe a bit more light on the right side of the fruits would make it better. Where did you find strawberries in January?

I like the fact that you found a red strawberry flanjed by the green underdeveloped strawberries. Works really well for me. Everything seems sharp, I like it.

    Thanks guys.

First of all, the pictures was taken last May—I’m going over some old photos. It is taken outside at around 7 p.m. and I played with strobe power and angle. I handheld both camera and strobe and wasn’t really happy with the result from a technical point of view (framing and DOF). But I liked the colours and thought the picture worthy of a post. (The strawberry was tasty too).

I now have a stand for my strobe and a proper tripod, so I’ll try it again this season if the strawberries behave :)

I agree that the framing is a bit tight. The original has more room all around, but the top of the picture is messy. There is more room at the bottom so I can give it a bit more there.

    Good focus and colour-
    looks very sharp-

The black background might be a little too stark, maybe,
for want of a better word-

Maybe if you’re doing it again,
you could try a tripod, instead of a flash?
    or as well as-

    just a suggestion-

    Looks like a lovely lens-
    good picture-
