This is another one from the weekend trip to Clifden.
The sky was a bit naff but I’ve never seen water so still..
C&Cs welcome.
MarkKeymasterI like the composition alot, nice and clean, simple, all good…
As you mention the sky is letting is down with lack of apparent detail and being a bit overexposed compared to the water,
but you could bring that out a bit I certain. Probably could do with saturating the colours more slightly (bewarned that I’m definitely
not the person to let you know about the colours :) ) to give it a bit more oomph…Small thing but there are a few pieces of grass bottom right peeking through.
Looks like a good location !
squ1dMemberThanks Mark. Fair play on the grass. I never noticed that!
I didn’t have any filters with me for the whole trip which was a bit of a pain because the sky wasn’t that bad.

wexkel11MemberHi squ1d, Nice photo, maybe a little crop on the foreground, great feeling of space.
MikeconstantineParticipantDeeboParticipantAgree with Mark on this, bit more colour to give the pick some punch.
I would also take some of the foreground out tooLovely location
DeeLudaParticipantHope you don’t mind Squ1d, I made a few tweaks to bring a few bits and pieces out.
Like others have said, a bit more saturation would really boost this. I also darkened the sky and foreground slightly to add a bit more contrast – the water is great, nice and still.
There are various ways to amend the saturation and contrast – I did it through a few adjustment layers of curves and levels.Maybe the darkening may not be to everyone’s taste, but I like these kind of shots – and you took a really nice one – I just though a little bit of post-processing would aid it, but you’ve already done a good job with the composition.
That hill on the left became very tricky and you can still see a lot of noise and colour conflicts in there.
What lens are you using?squ1dMemberLuda, That looks great!! I really like it. How’d you do it?
I’m using the 17-80mm lens that came with the camera..
TomMemberIt looks nice, but I would probably get rid of that little stone or what is it..
PixelleMembersqu1dMemberI’m seriously going to have to get myself up to speed on photoshop!
LudaParticipantI used a few adjustment layers (curves and levels) – this warmed it up just slightly allowing browns and yellows to come through.
I added a bit of dark to the top and the bottom and I think i set that layer to “multiply”
Some levels adjustments to the hill on the left too.If all this sounds foriegn, then look up photoshop tutorials for adjusting landscapes. It’ll come with time – I’m still trying to perfect it.
squ1dMemberLuda, thanks for the tips..
Here’s one I’ve had a go playing around with. I think I might have over cooked it though.
