Looks like Pentax is pushing the APS game forward to 14.6MPix and will steal some thunder from the D300 and 40D.
This is the Samsung GX20 version of the K20D.
Image quality will be where it counts of course, but this one will be interesting because it appears to be a brand new CMOS sensor. Indications are that it is jointly developed by Pentax/Samsung.
Apparently the newly designed 14.6 MPix sensor has photosites the same size as the Sony 12 MPix one used in the D300. Pentax have designed the sensor to have shorter interconnect wiring.
This looks like it will be a great landscape camera. If Pentax are confident enough to include IS6400, I’m sure ISO100 will be clean as a whistle.
RRP is ?899 but will propably come down to ?700-750 I would say. I’ll wait for the price drop and the final reviews. My K10 is grand in the meantime.
Sony are another new force to be reckoned with. The A700 looks like a great piece of kit. It will be interesting to see their approach to full frame too.
