Here’s another of the shots from the other morning i just got round to editing. Same process again here, 3 bracketed shots manually HDR’d in Photoshop using layer masks.
Looking at the rocks on the LHS I’d be of the opinion that a grad filter might have been used? They go from being quiet detailed to being noticeably darker.
Other that that a fine shot. Composition, sharpness and the range of colours are all good.
I’d have to say that this doesn’t work quite as well as the previous one. The rocks on the LHS have lost detail near the top, and the blend line between exposures is visible down the middle. Great colours though – how does the dark exposure look by itself? Might make a good panorama with 2/3 sky and 1/3 water/rocks?
If you look at the image as a whole the right hand side has a part starting from the beach curving up to the clouds that looks over burnt and saturated for the other side of the image ? Maybe if it was a manual HDR you didnt blend it enough ? Also a lot of lens curve… the first thing you need to have right in any landscape is a good straight level horizon IMO
aye that’s my good ole cheap standard lens, that and i took the shot from fairly high up with the camera pointed down ,thus adding to the effect. Yeah i left the rocks waaaay too dark at the top. oops :D
