Tosh Meets Marley

Last Sunday night at the Savoy, Cork. The closing gig of the Irish leg of their tour – 4 consecutive nights in Letterkenny, Belfast, Dublin, Cork. Fair play to ’em they’re gettin on a bit… must be da ganja

This huge line-up of Reggae musicians is made up from some of Jamaica’s most revered musicians who have in the past played alongside Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, these guys have also played with just about every reggae band in existence.

It was my first proper play with the 40D and some new L glass, namely 24-70 f/2.8 L and 70-200 f/2.8 L IS. I mention it as I’ve seen lens talk lately, especially the 70-200 IS – must say I’m very happy with it. Huge difference to what I was using before, and I’m pretty happy with these pics though would like to see what others have to say. All taken at ISO 1600.

    1. Don Carless (70-200 f/2.8 L IS 200mm)

    2. Junior Marvin (70-200 f/2.8 L IS 70mm)

    3. Fully Fullwood (24-70 f/2.8 L 70mm)

    4. Tony Chin (70-200 f/2.8 L IS 73mm)

These all look terrific Stas, particularly numbers two and
three. Brilliant colour in all of them, always a problem at gigs
with those dreaded red lights everywhere, but you’ve managed
to pretty much nail it here. That’s some nice glass you’re using.

Me tinks in dis gig all de dreads were on da stage

Thanks Rob I appreciate the comments. There was a bit of a green overkill in this gig – the first pic for example was very heavy on the yellow/green. When there was no green, it was mostly white which I tried to warm up a bit.

And I’m really chuffed with my recent investment, the 70-200 is becoming my favourite lens, it really is awesome. Same lens is responsible for the Laura Izibor pic.
