Canon 450D / Digital Rebel XSi announced

“Canonhas today announced a new compact digital SLR, the twelve megapixel EOS 450D (Digital Rebel XSi).
On the surface a very similar camera to the EOS 400D, however there are a range of significant improvements;
twelve megapixel CMOS sensor, 3.0″ LCD monitor, Live View with both AF modes (contrast-detect and passive), 14-bit processing and RAW, spot metering, improved AF, 3.5 fps continuous shooting, a larger viewfinder, SD/SDHC storage and a new higher capacity battery.All in all a fairly impressive range of usage oriented improvements and refinements.”
Definitely a better leap than the 400 was from the 350. My 40D is getting a little jealous and slightly worried, but then i remind it of it’s metal body and speed and it cheers him up :D
That is a bargain of a camera!
And I am glad I got my 400D sold a few weeks back while it was still current!

No, they’ve been in use on earlier 1D and 5D cameras already, but those were dual slot cameras (CF/SD). The logic behind the SD cards in this camera are to persuade more users over from compact cameras where the SD card is the predominant card format in use.
Someone told me April the other day, but I haven’t seen anything in print.

http://www.komplett.ie say they’ll have stock on March 5th, retailing at ?739+delivery. Don’t know how they’re managing that one, given that Canon have said an April release.

i was planning to get a 400D over in the US in march when i head over.
