Landscape – CAUTION! Not for the faint hearted!!

Sorry for all those people in the photography world that think the only photographs worthy of presentation are those, well, realistic. I like twisting reality but this one is so far off the wall it doesn’t belong on this planet. If we see a landscape looking like this in reality we’re all in deep do-do.
Let the mud slinging commence!!

Oh, about 20 minutes. 2 passes through Photomatix and a colour gradient with a couple of lighting effects in PS. It’s the sort of image that you’ve already gone too far with but can make it attractive…to some. I like the obscure. If you think this is mad I’m currently looking at a feature called Draganiser. Now that’s totally mental!

Yeah, not for everyone but it floats my boat. At the end of the day it’s just taking an actual photo and pushing it to it’s limits.
Lot of texture going on in there. I find it interesting to take the normal and turn it into something surreal. This is what you might imagine the landscape on Mars would resemble.

Looks like something out of a Animation movie (to which I mean similar to Beowolf,Final fantasy etc) I like it as it shows depth to the photo.
Fabulous texture and detail Alan. I like it. Vaguely reminiscent
of the Mars landscape in the movie Total Recall…Rob.
Don’t normally like this sort of thing but this is coool! Class colours and lovely texture in the rocks.

I cant really decide whether I like this or not. Its distinctive alright which is usually a good thing. I reckon if you put a little miniature mars rover in the foreground you could probably pass it off as something sci fi.
Is there any chance you could run through the steps involved ? I know you said ’20 mins twice through photomatix and some lighting effects’ but I mean specifically ? No probs if its too much hassle to type it all out – just curious. Definitely more interesting than the average landscape.
